Touristic Atractions

Neptun PoolparkOne of the most beautiful places to spend time. The poolpark surface is 20 ha of park , including the swimming pools, sport field, playgrounds for childrens, discos and clubs, terraces, over 1500 exchange booths and 300 camping houses.

Cliff Mures – Includes “The Childrens Park”, “Eminescu Park” and “Europe Park”, where authorities organizes Europe Day festivities.


The Lake
– situated in the proximity of  Podgoria Square.At the end of the  XIX  century, green area was much larger, the natural lake here was surrounded by a little forest. Today it was rearranged so every night, during 2-3 hours the cityzens enjoy an impressive aquatic and acoustic show.



The Ceala Forest
– situated at 2 km distance of Arad with a 1560 ha sufrface, is one of preffered places of the citizens to spend time. There is also Maltaret Lake. A special and pitoresque place is the “Three islands” area situated at the southern edge of the forest. On the island formmed of the riverbed Mures and a side arm ,there are several holiday houses and cottages.



The Vladimirescu Forest – situated near the village with same name, at  7 km of Arad, it is an area with vegetation and fauna speciffic for cliff forests. Preffered activities of the villagers are fishing and hunting.




The Minis-Maderat Vineyard– situated at 30 km distance from Arad, at the foothills Zarand Mountains. This is a rich area with  viticultural tradition, with lakes for swimming and fishing, medieval castle ruins, museums and antique religious buildings. Starting from here there are several paths marked to ridge and valleys of  Mountains Zarand.

Thermal Poolparks – situated in Curtici, Macea, Sofronea and Dorobanti at 25 km distance of Arad.The waterpark pools are filled of geothermal water that reaches 58 degrees C.

Mountains and Caves near Arad:

The Codru Moma Mountains– they are one of the most important touristic area in the Apuseni Mountains due to an extraordinary panoramas  and spectacular relief: cliffs of hundreds of meters, huge woods
and caves.
The Bats Cave – near Moneasa, naturally decorated with stalactites and stalacnites of all sizes, here springing a stream that pases near the old sanatorium of the Moneasa resort.

Cristal Cave – formed from black limestone rock

Bezdin – near Pecica, a complex reservation with a 25 ha surface, well known for the white lily that grows here.
Dendrological Parks – Peris, with old oak trees over 600 years old, Savarsin, Botanical Garden Macea

The Stone City – Siria 1331 – with royal city status, among its occupants are found: Iancu de Hunedoara, king Sigismund de Luxemburg, serbian despot George Brancovici, Matei Corvin, Bathory family.

Taut Fortress – Taut sec. XII, nowadays ruins.

Hodos Monastry – Bodrog – village Bodrogul Nou, 1177, one of the oldest  monuments of this category in Romania, here are valuable paintings, several manuscripts and other antique pieces.

Historical Monuments

Romanian soldiers monument from Arad, built in memory of those who gave their lives for liberation from fascist domination.

Heroes Monument from Paulis, where fierce battles were given in the second word war between Romanian and German troops.



One of the most famous etnografical areas in Romania it is represented by  “Tara Zaradului” on these lands, wherw are preserved pieces of great value and originality. Some localities are outstanding in this area:

Batsa: popular clothing and ceramics.
Barzava: ceramic center.
Birchis-Capalnas: red ceramics and boleros.
Buteni: popular clothing – costumes dominated by red and black, Fur coats, jackets.
